The "Off the beaten track" to the Annapurna Machapuchare (Fishtail) trek, also known as Mardi Himal trekking, follows the least trodden trail away from the trekkers maddening crowd with a true feel of exploration. This is often uncrowned trek where there are no lodges is only possible by camping therefore this is very quiet compared with other routes in this region. This trek offers the opportunity to escape Nepal 's tourist trails, to venture into the deep forests and roam the high alpine pastures to the base of the sacred, fluted peak of Machapuchare and Mardi Himal. The great ice fields and the blue glaciers of the Annapuran sanctuary walls lie below us. The emphasis of this trek is on the forest and wilderness zones. We ascend through Hindu villages and pristine forests (magnolia, oak and rhododendron) to alpine campsites that afford panoramic views of the Annapurna Range . Forays to the base of Machapuchare provides a further highlight before a delightful return through Gurung villages to Pokhara.
  • You will be met at the airport by our Adventure Jaljale representative and transfered to your hotel in Kathmandu. Rest at the hotel and briefing about the trip. There should be time to explore the city's many charms on your own too. Overnight (O/N) in Kathmandu (breakfast included).
  • Leave at 9 am for full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley including the holiest site in Nepal: the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO world heritage site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. We can also visit the Shyambhunath a 2000 year old temple colloquially known as the "Monkey Temple" and visit Patan city of fine arts. In the evening there wil be a briefing at your hotel or at the office. O/N at lodge in Kathmandu (breakfast included).
  • You will be taken to the airport for a flight to Pokhara and from there the trek will commence to Dhampus. O/N camping. (all meals and hot drinks included)
  • We wake to stunning views of Machhapuchhare (23,000 ft/6993 m) and the Annapurna Mountain ranges. From today we start following "Our Private Trail" leaving other tourists behind, indeed we won’t be seeing any tourists for 6 days. Today we enter a beautiful forest of birch, rhododendrons, hemlock and pines. We will camp in a small clearing far from the main trekking trails. O/N camping. (all meals and hot drinks included)
  • Today we trek through the forest, climbing gradually. Every now and then we'll have a view of Machhapuchhare and the Annapurnas. We can also see the Mardi Khola river winding it’s way through the valley thousands of feet below. We camp at 10,000 ft at "Low Camp", from where we will have a stunning view of Machhapuchhare. O/N camping. (all meals and hot drinks included).
  • Just a short climb and we are out of the forest. The ridge will take us to our campsite at 12,000 ft. Here the spectacular sunset turns the hills and mountains of the Himalayas pink, then red and finally purple before the stars take over and we get ready for an early night. O/N camping (all meals and hot drinks included).
  • After an early breakfast we start trekking to reach our highest point of the trek, if conditions are favorable, up to 15,000 /16,000 ft. In the afternoon we return to our camp. If the weather is clear, the view today will never be forgotten. O/N camping (all meals and hot drinks included)
  • After breakfast we descend 7,000 ft mainly through forest, bush and terraced fields, past the hillside village of Siding, down to Mardi Khola for a welcome swim and scrub up near our camp. O/N camping at Mardi Khola. (all meals and hot drinks included)
  • A beautiful walk through the Mardi Khola valley's quiet settlements and over an interesting section of bridges. We camp by the river near Mardi Pul. O/N camping (all meals and hot drinks included)
  • After a drive or a flight back to Pokhara, you have a free day to relax, or do some shopping or sightseeing on your own. O/N at guesthouse in Pokhara (breakfast included)
  • After breakfast you will journey back from Pokhara to Katmandu by tourist Coach (about 7 hours) or you can take a flight (25 minutes) and accomodation will be arranged for you in Kathmandu. O/N at guesthouse in Kathmandu (breakfast included).
  • If you are interested in continuing on to the Chitwan Jungle Safari, River Rafting Adventure or any other tours you can start today.
